Leadership Giving
United Way of York County's success depends on contributors who set high standards of giving.
Through individual annual gifts of $1,000 or more, leadership givers have a profound impact
on the lives of others in our community. The leadership giving levels are:
First Capitol Club:
Ambassadors: $1,000 - $1,499
Representatives: $1,500 - $2,499
Senators: $2,500 - $4,999
Vice Presidents: $5,000 - $7,499
Presidents: $7,500 - $9,999
Tocqueville Society: $10,000 or more
First Capitol Club: Gifts of $1,000 - $9,999
The growth of the First Capitol Club in recent years has been significant. There are now close
to 1000 Members who contribute more than $1.4 million annually.
Each year contributors to this giving program are recognized in the leadership
brochure, unless they elect to remain anonymous. Couples contributing through the
workplace may be recognized at the leadership level, by completing the "household gift"
section of the employee pledge form to combine their gifts.
Tocqueville Society: Gifts of $10,000 or more
Established in 1988, the Tocqueville Society of York County is the foundation
of philanthropy in our community. Membership in the Society is granted to individuals
who contribute $10,000 or more annually to the United Way. The Tocqueville Society is
named for Alexis de Tocqueville, a Frenchman who visited America in the 19th Century and
recorded his impressions of Americans willingness to help one another.
